Christmas Day

We had a very enjoyable Christmas Day. We were able to sleep in a little and Morgan had to work in the morning. He was back and waiting for the girls to wake up. (We were worried he would miss something!) The girls enjoyed opening their presents, but they enjoyed playing with their new toys even more. They got a My Little Ponyville, Moon Sand, lots of new books, new little laptop computer things. They didn't want to go anywhere at all yesterday; they were having too much fun with all their new stuff. So we didn't. Well, I did hit Wal-Mart and bought the girls' new bedspreads for our new house. I had picked them out and knew if I waited too long they would be gone!

Morgan got a new backpack for hunting, some walkie-talkies for hunting, some new broadheads for hunting, a new bowcase for hunting, and ... I think that's it. And I...drumroll please! Got that picture of the Salt Lake temple I wanted sooo super bad. The antiqued landscape size. LOVE IT EVEN MORE IN PERSON! It's even bigger than I thought, which I love. I took a picture of it last night; I'll have to post it one of these days.

Then we went to Jensen after lunch and shared some opening with the family down there. It was fun. Rosemary liked her Heritage Makers book; it even made her cry. :)

Now is the time I get ansy to scrapbook. Anyone who wants to join me, call me! :)

A Creature WAS Stirring.

Well, we had quite the Christmas Eve. I too had the package-didn't-come-in-time drama without a happy ending. I guess the birthday shopping is already done. Let's see... let's start at the beginning.

Christmas Eve morning, my mom and I took turns baking in the kitchen. It was fun. I made a cheesecake (Oh my gosh, we haven't eaten that yet! We forgot!) Then my mom baked a batch of cookies. Then I baked brownies and another batch of cookies and back and forth like that. Cydnie helped. By sampling. Meanwhile, Morgan had to work out at the plant. He was out there until about 2:00 p.m. (Turned out he was staying that late because he too was having package woes, also without a happy outcome. At least I will get it today! :)) While he was gone, I enjoyed taking my dear friend Hillary out to my house so she could see it. (Thanks, Hillary, for taking time out of your Christmas Eve of all days to make an effort to see me and our pride and joy. It's a sign of a true friend when they don't even act cold when it is FREEZING.) When Morgan finished at work he was the Good Samaritan that pulled out some cars from off the road where they slid off. The girls just played. Cydnie ate.

When he got home, we seriously just kinda hung out at home. He had decided to make a batch of his family famous fudge when we realized there was gross water coming up out of my parents' sink--fast! We hurried and turned off the dishwasher but it didn't help and it kept rising, it was almost to the top to overflow when I shut off the washer and it stopped. But it didn't drain at all. My parents were out delivering stuff at the time. (Had no one been home, we REALLy would've had a problem.) When they got home, my dad (with his cast on) and my husband went down in the crawl space and sparing the disgusting details, worked for about an hour to save the day. Successfully. We even had time to make the fudge. Cydnie ate some more.

That put dinner prep back a little, but my mom was inspired to do some munchy-easy things for dinner. We had like the 7-layer chip dip and a veggie tray and stuff like that, so we were back on-course soon! My brother Blake and his daughter and my brother Kyle all came over for dinner. Cydnie ate a lot of dinner.

After dinner is when I realized that I really wasn't going to get the package that I had ordered on the 10th and was "guaranteed" delivery by the 24th. I'm such a dork, I just had such faith that I really would get it but when I finally logged on the website to track it, I realized it had been sitting in Wisconsin for 8 days and that it was in no way coming in time. But you know what? It turned out my kids had too much stuff anyway and got bored opening before they were all opened. They just wanted to play with their stuff. Taught me a lesson. That I'll forget before next year.

We let the girls open a present before bed and it was books so we read books before bed. Got them to sleep probably by about 9:00-9:30. Everything was looking good. Santa came and left their stuff and filled their stockings. THEN at midnight, everything Cydnie ate came back up. On her pillow. And I mean to tell you, that much food should NEVER be in a 2-year-old at one time. Yikes. Lukily, she only got it on her pillow. I got her up and got her bathed and hair washed, clean jammies on and back to bed. 3:30 a.m. She's in my room again saying she threw up in her room again. Repeat. One more time later in the night. Repeat. Awesome.

I'll blog about Christmas tomorrow. :) Hope you all had a merry one.

Hark the Harold Angels Sing.

We went to the Jensen Ward party last night. It was sort of spur-of-the-moment; I thought I could meet some of the people who will be in our ward. It turns out, you just talk to the people you already know when you don't know anyone else. haha. When we got there, one of the ladies asked if Sadie would like to be in the program. As you guessed, she almost cried about that, too. She is sooo shy!! Cydnie said, "I Do." I said, "You have to be 4, honey." She said, "I AM four." Anyway, after us going back and forth, I thought, well what could it hurt, right? So I asked the lady if they could use another angel. We put on the outfit (you can see from the picture that all the other angels knew to wear a dress! haha) and the halo and she stood up there and participated in the program. It made ma laugh sooo hard. She pretended to sing along and everything even though she had never practiced or anything. She waved and pointed and clapped for herself after the songs. It was so stinkin' funny. Then she started getting ansy so I told her she could come down off the stage. She fell off the two huge stairs but she didn't cry (she just made a scene) and she jumped up and said really loud, "I gotta go POTTY!" *Sigh*

When I got home and saw the picture of her picking her nose with her pants half way to her knees I laughed so hard my stomach hurt; I couldn't wait to post that one! (See below!)

Grandpa Did Not Get Run Over By a Reindeer.

Grandpa had a little surgery on his bad arthritis thumb this week. They put him in a hard cast, in which he will be for 5 weeks! Luckily it was his left had so he is still able to play solitaire and type. :) He wanted to have the grandkids sign his cast. They thought it was pretty awesome.

Cydnie's Visit w/ Santa

Well, like everything they do and how they look, Cydnie's visit with Santa was completely opposite from Sadie's. She bounded up there with her letter so fast I had to tell her to wait til I got the camera out. She was eager to tell Santa the only thing she wants for Christmas: A Flashlight. Pretty tall order? :)

Sadie's Visit w/ Santa

These pictures pretty much tell the story better than I could. We went to the library to see Santa. I knew Sadie was going to freak out so I had her write him a letter that she could just give him and she wouldn't have to say anything. She still hid behind the books. But he was such a great Santa. He brought the candy cane over to her and talked to her and she didn't cry. (She's border-line, but she didn't cry!) It was hilarious.

This is Santa's Big Scene.

My sister-in-law and her 3 kids and my kids and I made gingerbread houses last week. More accurately, we made graham cracker houses. And I should've taken Mandy's advice and used hot glue because it was ridiculous. We couldn't get them to stay up to save our lives. that's why Cyd's is so small. And finally we gave up on Sadies and made the bottom out of sugar cubes and gave it a roof. We also made an igloo out of the sugar cubes that I didn't get a picture of. Anyway, it was fun overall and we ate a lot of candy. :)

Question For Ya.

Okay, guys this is SUPER weird, but raise your hand if you've ever heard of a condition where a person's uvula is enlarged. (It's not what you may think; it's that dangly thing at the back of your throat.) He's going to kill me if he knows I wrote this on here, but Morgan has it right now. He noticed it yesterday after lunch. We didn't eat anything out of the norm (unfortunately, fast food is norm for us.) I told him maybe it was an allergic reaction to something and to drink some benadryl because he was having a hard time getting air around it. It's not just enlarged, guys, it's elongated. When he breaths out it flies up and rests on his tongue! Like a long ways! Wha??? And last night RIGHT when we got home from dinner, he gagged on it so much that yep. Puked a little. It doesn't otherwise hurt him but it annoys the heck out of him. It affects his whole day. Tell me, is this temporary? Please! All the info on the internet suggests this condition is associated with sleep apnea and morbid obesity, which Morg has neither of. Help us out here, guys. He wants cut it off. I just want to know if he'll die if he does. :)

One More House Post

What a hottie, huh. We have a love/hate relationship with that big red thing in the room. It's a drywall hoist and we honestly couldn't have done this job without it, but dang, it is big and awkward and doesn't work the way we thought it should. Morgan is getting the hang of driving it pretty well, now, though, after the first two days of the project which were awful. (The only project he has actually said the words, "give up" and "mistake" and a few others NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THIS PARTICULAR BLOG.)

This is the master bedroom.

This is our bathroom. I imagined it a little cozier, but I guess it'll have to do. :)

Icicles are Fascinating to me.

View from our back window in the kitchen.

Cydnie demonstrating how big the icicle really is. (And if you want to know the truth, it's grown 2 feet longer since we took this picture. It would really put your eye out...or KILL you if it fell on you.)

Our beautiful front door. We will be staining it a dark walnut color but not until spring.

Cydnie is sooo good when we are out at the house. She completely entertains herself for hours. We could not have asked for them to be better during this whole entire ordeal. :) That thing in the background cylindrical in shape is my absolute favorite non-living thing in the house. IT'S A HEATER. AND IT IS AWESOME. As you can see, Cyd is running around with no coat on. That's not because I'm a bad mom (this time) that is because that is how warm it is in there!

Be Good for Goodness Sake!

Here is another one of our traditions. It applies to all holidays, actually. We do them for Valentines, Christmas, Halloween, you name it. They're yummy; we put a little bit of lemon flavoring in the dough and in the frosting to give it a little unexpected fun. :) We had fun decorating cookies.

I used this title because my favorite thing to listen to right now is Cydnie singing this song. It goes like this, "You better watch out. You better don't cry. You better not pout, I'm telling you why. Santa Claus is bring your presents to town."

Christmas Traditions I

Here are the girls decorating my parents' Christmas tree this year. Not quite the same as having a house and a tree of our own, but it was magic to the girls. They looove it. And it really does look beautiful.
