Family Party!
Those of you who may have worked with me over the years know about this party. It's the one I stress over for weeks, sometimes months ahead of time. We play the white elephant game only it's a really nice present so you're fighting over the one you want to keep. I don't, however, stress about this anymore. A few years ago, I discovered I should just buy something I want because I always end up with it anyway. So I bought this.
And I ended up with it and I love it. This year was really fun, I thought. It was much lower-key than usual, as we have been rotating who plans and hosts the party since 2 years ago. 2 years ago it was at the eldest sibling, Kimberli's, then last year it was in Idaho at Tony's house. This year Troy hosted it and it was super easy-going. He had us all bring a recipe we'd never tried or tasted before. (This is another family get-together we like to do once in a while.) I brought Cafe Rio Salad. It was sort of cheating because I guess I've tasted it before, but not THAT recipe. IT WAS GOOD!! TALK ABOUT SAVING US A TRIP TO PROVO! Except now I have to come up with something else that will talk Morgan into going on there. :)
The girls had a lot of fun with the waterballoon fights and we do a gift exchange for them to keep them happy while we do the adult white elephant game. Sadie got an aquadoodle; she loves it. She's played with it ever since then. Cyd got a Carebear she is now packing around with her blanket. I thought it was really fun and didn't need a ton of planning!!! Next year, we think we're going to move the party back to Christmas time where the gift exchange makes sense!
