We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet.

I just wanted to share some feelings on the passing of our beloved prophet. Although I am sad that we won't be able to hear his voice and witness his great testimony first hand anymore, I am far more overwhelmed with gratitude for the time we were able to have with him. He has been the prophet for most of what I remember of my membership. I was able to see him in person when he came to Vernal to break ground for our new temple. I still remember the jokes he told--a shovel fell in the middle of his speech and knocked a picture off a large easel. When they were all picked up again, he said, "Hmm.. didn't break the picture. Didn't break the shovel...broke the monotony!" Nobody can top his quick wit in my book. I also got to witness the dedication of our temple. I will never forget the spirit that was there. President Hinckley will be so sorely missed but I am so grateful for the testimony I have of the gospel and I know his spirit is free of the body that was slowing him down. Someone mentioned he could finally rest. I don't think so. I think he can more freely do the things he wants to. Can you imagine that man resting?? I'm so glad for the knowledge that he is back with his wife and with our Savior and Heavenly Father. And most of all, thankful we had him for the time we did.
