Through the eyes of our kids...
Our construction site through the eyes of our kids:
Those blocks are awesome to build with.
You can draw in sawdust.
There is always at least one toad or frog in the window well.
It's fun to look at the floor plan and point out where your bedroom is and REPEATEDLY remind Mom what color it is going to be.
You can throw a babydoll really high in the air. (This game is called Super Baby.)
The gravel rocks can write on concrete.
There's lots of dirt to play in.
You can crawl around like a bug and try to scare ants.
It's a fun space to run in.
The concrete nail gun is so loud it makes you laugh.
And the power tools look like fun:
Me: "Cydnie, did you see how the dust flies out of the back when Dad cuts the wood?"
Cydnie: "I try it?"
Me: "Uhhhh... not today."
What do we see???
A LOT OF POTENTIAL. :)
Update: We have finished framing in the basement, inculding top-plating. We can now start the floor joists and flooring. This is super exciting. I have learned how to use a "speed square" (which is SUCH stupid name for this particular tool, as it is not speedy to use and it is clearly a triangle) and a chop saw and a concrete nail gun thingy, and an air nail gun. Oh! And I built something all by myself. Something to steady the wood when I put it on the chop saw. But don't let this fool you. I LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT trying to run a power tool of any kind. Oh well. I won't quit my day job.
