Potty Training
Last week's Hot Topic Tuesday was so much fun, I think I'll have another one.
Oh, and first I'll tell you what I thought of last week's. My opinion has evolved over the last few weeks, actually. The video was very disturbing to me. I was on the side of the civilian for much of the time. It is clear that the officer did a very poor job of communicating and giving the driver his options. Being a 14-year-veteran of the Force, I don't think that is acceptable in the least. BUT the tide turns when Jared puts his hand in his pocket. The officers who protect us do have dangerous jobs. Regular traffic stops turn in to tragedy far too often, that's why they have these tools. If someone has a Taser pointed at you, you shouldn't keep doing what you want. Especially walking away from him and put your hand in your pocket. I do want to add the latest news which puts me back on the side of the officer being a jerk. When Jared went to get a copy of that video, they told him it had been "damaged." The sound was all scrambled; you couldn't hear what they were saying. He took it to a friend who does security work and he cleaned it up for him. I don't feel that was an accident. Anyway! That is it in a nutshell, I guess.
On to today's topic: Potty Training.
With both of my kids, I have felt a certain "social pressure" to have them potty trained by a certain age. I have not been able to get it done by the time they reached that certain age. What are your feelings? Is this social pressure in my head? Have you felt it? Have you had people tell you it was time to get that kid trained...etc??

I wanted Brinley potty trained by age 3. I didn't force it, I think that would scare a kid. She did have a few accidents but thats part of the whole experience. Make it fun!
Al-
The way I sees it...if they are potty trained by High School, it's a success.
Let them do it to themselves. It'll happen.
I would rather go through labor than potty train! I thinks the pressure to potty train comes as your kid gets older and people look at you like "That kid is STILL in diapers?!" They are ready when they are ready. My six year still has problems taking a break from having fun to go to the bathroom. Gotta love the pee pee dance!
As for layouts, you can go to pimpmyprofile.com or pyzam.com and click on blogger layouts. The only think that I don't like is that you loose all of your links and extra stuff and have to put it all back in and that is kind of a pain in the butt.
Hi Alison,
Some people tell you it is the time and some just look at you then you will understand.. :)
But Potty training should start in between the age of one and half to three years old.
Yeah, I like the one about potty training starting between 1 1/2 - 3. I WISH!
Abi still has issues (thanks to an illness when she was 2). Try explaining that to school people. Do they think the parents LIKE the potty dance (and the accidents, and diapers, you get the idea).
But, for what it is worth, if the child is open to the idea, go for it. If not, pushing only makes it worse (which is the opposite of what we want to happen).
